TRANSPORTATION WITHIN CULEBRA ISLAND:
Taxis or the “publicos”, as they are called in Culebra, are normally available during the day hours, but not so readily available in the evening hours. If you were to go from Tamarindo to, let’s say a restaurant in town in the evening hours, you should make prior arrangements with the driver to assure return transportation. For an average $3-5 per person fare you could go from the estates to town (one way).SNORKELING, SWIMMING, SANDY BEACH, SCUBA DIVING, KAYAKING, WATERSPORTS:
Most visitors staying at Tamarindo Estates opt to rent a car. Renting a car gives the visitor the flexibility of going to any place at any time of the day or night. A rental car would facilitate your visit to other beaches, go groceries shopping or eat out in the restaurants in town. For rental vehicles you may contact these companies: Jerry's Jeeps at 787-742-0587, Carlos Jeeps at 787-742-3514, or JM Rentals at 787-742-0521. The last one also offer scooters for rent.
If you reserve a rental vehicle, once you get into Culebra the wise thing is to first pick up the rental vehicle and drive it to Tamarindo Estates to check-in at the resort.
For the peak tourist times of the year we suggest you make car rental reservations ahead of time.There is an easily accessible snorkeling area in calm, shallow, and crystalline waters by the oceanfront of Tamarindo Estates. We suggest that you bring reef walker shoes for your comfort and safety while snorkeling. You can rent snorkeling and scuba gear in town. For a good swim you may enjoy Playa Tamarindo's sandy beach, a seven minute walk from the Estates. There are certified diving instructors on Culebra who offer divers one and two-tank boat diving expeditions.BEACH-HOUSE, SWIMMING POOL, RESTAURANTS, and NO PETS:
Tamarindo Estates is located off the protected and pristine waters of the Luis Peña Channel, a body of water connecting the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. The Luis Peña Channel, where we are, has been designated a special Marine Reserve by the Puerto Rico Natural Resources Department. Our oceanfront location is ideal for swimming, kayaking, snorkeling, and other watersports. There is kayak rental available from an independent operator to enjoy the waterways or a trip to Luis Peña Cay.
We have a Beach-house with rest rooms, chairs, and lots of shade area .RESERVATION DEPOSIT, MINIMUM STAY, CHECK-IN, CHECK -OUT, NUMBER OF OCCUPANTS, ETC.:
Next to our beach, there is also a swimming pool with a large covered wood deck.
For a good swim you may enjoy Playa Tamarindo's sandy beach, a seven minute walk from the Estates.
At the time of writing the restaurant at the Tamarindo Estates’ premises is closed. For eating out you could go to town, which is an easy 5-minute drive via the newly paved access road or you could call a taxi, which are called "Publicos" here in Culebra. Here is a listing of some dining spots: Mamacitas and Dinghy Dock (American, Caribbean), both by the water in town. Both open for lunch and dinner. Wai-Nam (Chinese) and Oasis Pizza are in the town's main street. El Batey, on the road to the airport, offer sandwiches at lunch time. Barbara Rosa's on main road to airport serves dinners. Coconuts Grill serves sandwiches by the beach. Seabourne, located south of town, serves from the American cuisine and is open for dinner.PETS: It is our rental policy not to allow pets.

Reservation deposit is about 50 percent, which is 50% refundable up to 30 days prior to reservations. If you cancel less than 30 days prior to arrival date, there is no refund. Balance of rent is payable on arrival, in cash or credit card- Visa, Master Card or American Express. For certain dates, total prepayment might be required. Deposit is applied to last days of reservation and the deposit or any rental paid is forfeited in case of early departure. Guests are expected to establish credit with Tamarindo Estates before registration by presenting a valid Visa, Master Card, or American Express card. A weekly rental consists of seven (7) nights. We reserve the right to establish surcharges to the published rates for certain dates of the year, for which guests would be notified at the time of reservation.
If you are concerned about a trip cancellation, you could consider buying some travel insurance.
MINIMUM STAY: At least 2 nights. The required minimum stay could be increased during certain times of the year. In general, guests may start their weekly stay any day of the week.

Check-in time: 3:00 PM (Check-in not possible after 6:30 PM)
Check-out time: 11:00 AM
We could allow an early check-in (however, not before 10:30AM) if your assigned cottage was not occupied the night before. If there were guests the night before, we could do the check-in paperwork after 10:30AM, but you would have to keep yourself and your luggage away from the cottage until it is cleaned. We strongly recommend afternoon arrivals and will do check-ins until 6:30PM. However, we are not able to check in guests who take the passenger ferry departing Fajardo at 7:00PM because we do not have personnel for check ins arriving that late.
We will check you in at our Tamarindo Estates office. With the newly paved access road to Tamarindo Estates, it is an easy 5 minute drive from the airport, and a couple of more minutes from the ferry dock. If you have also reserved a rental vehicle, once you get into Culebra the wise thing is to first pick up the rental vehicle in town and drive it yourself with your family to Tamarindo Estates.
If you opt not to rent a car, the taxi fare from town to the resort is about $3-5 per person. If there is no taxi near the dock or airport when you arrive, call the taxi numbers listed below until you get a live response. Do not rely on leaving a voice mail or expect to be called back, particularly if your cell phone is from the States, as this would be a long distance call for the taxi driver. It can be useful to know that the road in front of the airport is the route for taxis as they go back and forth between town and the popular public beach Flamenco. The easiest way to get to Culebra from Puerto Rico is by airplane, a 30 minute flight from San Juan, P.R., or a 12 minute flight from Fajardo, P.R.

CHILDREN: Children are welcome. Parents are expected to moderate their own children so that other guests are not unduly upset. Parents should take proper measures regarding bed-wetting, and will be charged for damages.
NUMBER OF OCCUPANTS: At the resort we limit the number of people allowed in each rental cottage. Additional persons are not allowed, except those authorized ahead of time by the management.
VISITORS: To ensure the tranquil character of our resort, we do not allow outside visitors on our premises.
